Plex
Reports and controls what is playing on a Plex Media Server.
What your Plex server knows, in HomeSeer: what is playing and who is watching, what arrived today, and how hard the machine is working. No Plex account needed on your own network.
What it does
- Every player and every server as HomeSeer devices, found automatically on your network
- Title, show, season, episode, progress and who is watching, per player
- Server-wide: streams running, what arrived today, library size, indexing and machine load
- Transport controls on each player that accepts them -- play, pause, stop, next, previous
- Reports remote sessions too, because somebody streaming from away still uses your bandwidth
- Guided Plex sign-in: a four-character code typed on plex.tv, never your password here
- Server identity and library backup, with a restore that verifies the server came back as itself
- A watchdog that publishes how old your newest backup is, so an event notices when it stops
- One-line event triggers: a player starts, pauses, resumes, stops or finishes; nears the end; something new arrives; the server goes offline
- Event actions: control any or every player, play a playlist or a title, scan a library, add what is playing to a playlist
- Playlists exported and imported as M3U, PLS, XSPF, WPL, JRiver, iTunes, CSV and more, matched to your library by file
What you need
- A Plex Media Server reachable on the local network
- A Plex sign-in (built into the settings page) unless your server allows this network without one
